eNewsletter - "First-Class Briefing"
|
August 2008
Hope you all had a great summer. The Flight Zone e-board has been busy meeting throughout the off-season and we hope you share our excitement for some new things you'll see this season. And, coincidentally, THIS is one of them.
"First-Class Briefing" is a new monthly e-newsletter that will be published right here on the Flight Zone website during the middle of each month. This August edition is the first and we hope you enjoy it and find it informative.
We also are transitioning to a new e-mail system that will allow us to offer the membership many more interactive options. Watch for all the exciting details this fall. In the meantime, note our new e-mail address: info@flightzone.org.
The fall picnic has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 23, so be sure to mark your calendars. What a gathering we had in the spring; this event just grows by the year.
Also, speaking of keeping dates open, this year's Tip-A-Hawk dinner at the Crowne Plaza downtown will be held on Thursday, November 6. What a special evening this event has become.
Many people ask about how the membership year works. The academic and fiscal years at the University begin July 1 and end June 30. So, any qualifying donation ($50 or more) to the women's basketball program made after July 1 makes you a member for that year (through June 30). The period from July 1-October 31 is the renewal period. Those members who have not renewed by Nov. 1 are taken off our membership list and will be ineligible for member benefits. Of course, memberships are accepted throughout the year (both new members and those who let their memberships elapse). So, to make the long story short, please renew by October 31 so we can keep you as an active Flight Zone member.
We also encourage the general Flight Zone membership to get involved. Send us your suggestions. What new would you like to see? What do you like best? Also, we have plenty of opportunities for volunteers. Coach Rizzotti and her staff call upon the Flight Zone for many different things, one of the most immediate being to help with the September golf tournament. If you'd like to help with any aspect of this always popular outing, please drop us an e-mail.
What's new around Chase Arena at Reich Family Pavilion this summer? Well, the new season will bring a new look. The South Coaches section will no longer be bleacher seating. It will now be the comfort of chairback seating on both sides of the arena.
It promises to be an exciting year. We look forward to a record-breaking number of members in 2008-09 and will be back with more during the middle of September with the latest First-Class Briefing.
